Alright…  So, I did some more digging, and I thought the missing link was the sid (unstable) repository for emdebian.  I’ve been kinda feeling my way around in emdebian for the past 2 weeks now.  It’s basically debian with a few quirks, which appear to be in the best interest of the mobile devices that it’s meant to run on.  Thus far, I think it’s pretty awesome.  However, apache2 on the Zipit has broke me.  I think I’m done trying to get this up and running.  My next attempt was lighttpd.  The real goal was to get a webserver up and running on the Zipit (or at least that’s what I’m telling myself now).  I was able to get lighttpd up and running no problem.  However, since this was really the first time I’ve played with lighttpd, I don’t know anything about the configuration for it and I was not able to get PHP working properly.  Maybe in the future.  We’ll see what happens.

Anyway, to install lighttpd: apt-get install lighttpd    –> Run as root

When you install lighttpd, it will create the appropriate logs for you.  After rebooting the Zipit, you will need to recreate the lighttpd logs in order to run lighttpd again.
